Successful completion of a Master’s thesis of 20,000-30,000 words is required for graduation. Students will choose a Master’s thesis advisor in the second semester and, under the advisor’s guidance and supervision, select a thesis topic related to Chinese development. Both single-country studies and comparative studies of China and other countries are acceptable. Students will defend a thesis proposal in the third semester and defend the final thesis in June of the last semester.
