Frequently Asked Questions

1. What language do you use to deliver this program?

DSCC is an English-taught program.

As one of the most internationalized faculties in China, most SSDPP faculty members to deliver DSCC courses graduated from top universities in the United States, Europe and Hong Kong. What’s more, English language skills are considered a priority when we recruit student service staff.

You can find more background information of our faculty and staff under the category of People on this website.

2. What procedures do I need to take to apply for this program?

4. What will be valued as a plus to my application?
Keen interests in the Chinese development are considered a plus. We value your previous experience of studying about China or working on China-related assignments. Even without the experience, you may have a clear vision of how the DSCC experience will be situated in your future career.

A development-related educational background is preferable, but not necessarily considered a determinant. As a school known for its interdisciplinary research and educational approach, we are firm believers of better educational results brought about by integration of different perspectives.

Internship is an elective course of the DSCC program. You will receive 2 credits by conducting an internship of no less than 30 days of work. Although internship is not a requirement, we strongly encourage you to consider doing an internship during your study to better incorporate classroom knowledge with practical work.

We require your internship work to be related to social development and, preferably, China. Possible internship places can be your embassy/consulates in China, chamber of commerce, international and local development agencies, think tanks, etc. Plan ahead for your internship schedule and start early to search for a position.

SSDPP has established partnerships with numerous organizations to accept DSCC students as interns such as the China Institute of Social Responsibility, International Poverty Reduction Center of China, Center for China & Globalization, and the pool is expanding. However, availability of internship positions each year depends on the demands of individual institutions.
