长期以来，在党和政府以及一系列方针政策的指导下，乡村医生为改善我国几亿农民的医疗卫生状况和中国农村医疗卫生事业的发展做出了重要的贡献。但随着我国农村经济、社会体制的变革及医疗卫生改革工作的不断深入，乡村医生队伍发展遇到了新的情况和问题。为了解新一轮医改以来乡村医生的收入状况及其影响因素，为相关部门制定政策提供实证支持。
Village doctors have dramatically improved medical service quanlity in rural areas over the last few decades. With the development of rural economics, the changes of social structure, and the new round health care reform, village doctors are facing new difficulties and severe challenges. In order to keep their regular income, Chinese government have come up with a way of securing financing for village doctors through multiple channels, such as subsidies to public health, compensation for essential drugs, and basic medical fee. Nevertheless, village doctors remarked that they had no pension and their effort was not valued fairly by the government, their incomes fell in recent years. In 2011, the study, launched by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, showed that village doctors’ earnings fell sharply after the implementation of the National Essential Drug, and some of them had withdrawn from this occupation.
