QIAO Dongping received her bachelor's and master's degree in Philosophy at Beijing Normal University, and earned a PhD degree at the Department of Applied Social Sciences, Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr. Qiao is currently a professor of the School of Social Development and Public Policy (SSDPP), Beijing Normal University (BNU). She was the Deputy Dean of this school from July 2014 to September 2018, and was an academic visitor at the Department of Social Policy and Intervention, University of Oxford from August 2018 to July 2019. She is an expert on “Children's Work Think-tank” under the State Council Working Committee on Women and Children, a deputy secretary general of Social Welfare Committee of Chinese Sociological Association (CSA）,a member of the Council of China Social Work Academic Society,  and an international advisors of the editorial board of the Journal of Social Work Practice.

Professor Qiao is interested in family and child welfare, child abuse, child protection, family violence, social policy, and social work. She has finished many research projects in her charge, as well as has published 4 books (Three of them are co-authored) and more than 40 papers in Chinese or English. She has taught over a dozen courses (Social Security, Family and Child Welfare, Child Protection, Social Work, Philosophy, Law) in 30 years.
