EABIS President Gave a Talk in SSDPP CSR Open Course

　　 On November 19, SSDPP’s CSR Open Course Series had Gilbert Lenssen, President of the European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS), as its guest speaker. Mr. Lessen gave a talk on Globalization and Sustainability: From Corporate Social Responsibility to Sustainable Corporation. 

Mr. Lessen started his talk by briefly introducing the European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS).

From Corporate Social Responsibility to Sustainable Business 
Prof. Gilbert Lenssen then analyzed the concept of modern company with the theories and practices from the perspectives of power, legitimacy, responsibility, governance and regulations, which led to the conclusion that in the age of globalization and information revolution, corporate social responsibility has become vital for a company to achieve sustainable value for both society and stakeholders, since CSR has been regarded “The business of business”. 

He further deduced that if Corporate Social Responsibility can be enlarged and developed into Sustainable Business, it will not only influence in a positive way the interior governance of a company but exterior governance also. Prof. Gilbert Lenssen used Unilever Sustainable Living Plan as such a case in point. 

Participants of the talk responded actively. One of the participants, in particular, Ms. Liu Nianning, Director of the Department of Corporate Citizenship & Governmental Cooperation of the greater China region in EMC responded to the talk from the perspective of a local practitioner.
