Roy Chen Yang-chung, director of the ZeShan Foundation talked with students of Master’s of Social Work of SSDPP at Ford Library on 14 December 2012.
Students introduced their life and educational experience and their passions to provide social service to society. Director Chen responded to them by sharing his perspectives on China’s development in the past 20 years. He hoped that students will find their perfect niche in society, find their ideals, and work hard and continuously to realize them.
Chen is the youngest of five siblings who run the foundation, his family's private philanthropy arm. It was founded in 2003 based on a Chen family fortune made through the property market with the Hang Lung Group.
The family named the foundation ZeShan - which literally means "to be benevolent" in Putonghua - in the hope of keeping the virtue alive by promoting good causes and helping those less privileged.
