Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) CEO Deliver SSDPP Open Course

   On 10 December 2012, SSDPP held an Open Course on the theme of Innovation in Global Giving: Private Philanthropy and CSR. The course was delivered by Melissa Berman, President and CEO of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, Inc. 

During the 3 hour long session, Melissa introduced the five key elements of philanthropy, namely the motivations, goals, approaches, assessment and involvement. She then shared some of the latest trends in Corporate Philanthropy and guided the audience to delve into its relation with traditional philanthropy. 

Audience was able to learn not only the key elements of philanthropy but overall U.S. practice in this area thanks to the sharing of this veteran Philanthropy practitioner. 

Melissa Berman is a director of the Foundation Center and Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. She is an adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s Business School. She serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Social Enterprise Program at Columbia Business School and is also a judge for the Ron Brown Award for Corporate Citizenship, a presidential award. 

Melissa Berman has been the President and CEO of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, Inc. since January of 2001. RPA is one of the world's largest philanthropic service organizations, offering counsel and management services to individuals.
