From October 20 to 23, 2023, the 15th China-Japan-Korea Joint Conference on Geography was held at the University of Seoul in South Korea, with the theme of "Livable Cities, Resilient Future", covering such cutting-edge and hot topics as urban resilience, geographic information systems, human geography, and natural geography, etc. Professor Tian Ming and his two team members, namely 2021-enrolled doctoral student Tian Yichong and 2022-enrolled doctoral student Wei Jinpeng, attended the meeting.

Professor Tian Ming delivered a report titled "Spatial Patterns and Influencing Factors of Floating Population in Counties on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" at the event, introducing his team's research progress. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has, Tian pointed out, unique natural environment and cultural characteristics. Based on China's population census data, combined with the population distribution and urbanization development model of the plateau, the study on the spatial evolution and influencing factors of floating population in counties on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is of great research value and great practical significance. Doctoral students Tian Yichong and Wei Jinpeng delivered reports titled "Multi-scenario Prediction of Human Footprint on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" and "Spatial Pattern Evolution of Floating Population on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau - Analysis Based on Different Floating Distances" respectively.

More than a hundred experts and scholars from China, Japan and South Korea attended the event. Through extensive and in-depth communication, the team has further clarified its future research focus. It will, in the future, continue to conduct research on hot topics such as floating population and county urbanization. Based on SSDPP's interdisciplinary and diversified research platforms, it will explore new models of sustainable high-quality development of population and urbanization that are in line with China's national conditions.
