Good News: Students of SSDPP Win the First Prize of the Master Group in the 2023 Tsinghua China Public Policy Case Analysis Competition

From April to August 2023, the 2023 Tsinghua China Public Policy Case Analysis Competition was held successfully. The Heart to Heart Team composed of Zhu Ziran, Liu Yize and Chen Zhengxue, three 2022-enrolled public management majors for academic master's degree of SSDPP, won the first prize in the master group with a wonderful case study report titled on "How to Meet the Needs of the Elderly with the Efforts of the Whole Society - Case Study on the Elderly Care Union of Beihang Community". The case instructors are Xu Xiaoxin and Gao Huajun of SSDPP.

China Public Policy Case Analysis Competition, hosted by School of Public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University, began in 2016, aiming at providing a platform for students who are concerned about public policy and social issues to learn, explore, and exchange ideas, and promoting students to develop representative excellent cases in China. It has gradually become an annual major event with extensive influence in the field of public policy. Themed on "Chinese Path to Modernization", the 2023 Tsinghua China Public Policy Case Analysis Competition selected topics on the essential requirements of Chinese modernization and encouraged students to carry out field research and develop outstanding cases in China with a sense of the times. The master group was composed of 192 teams of 702 people from 110 universities across the country. After strict preliminary selection, 13 teams entered the finals, and one first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes were finally determined.

Under the careful guidance of Xu Xiaoxin and Gao Huajun, through four-month in-depth field research, theory study and repeated practice, the Heart to Heart Team of SSDPP finally won the first prize of the master group with a wonderful case study report titled on "How to Meet the Needs of the Elderly with the Efforts of the Whole Society - Case Study on the Elderly Care Union of Beihang Community". This award shows the academic ambition and social responsibility of our students rooted in China's public policy practice and their adhering to our tenet of "erudition and practice".

Looking back on this event, the three team members expressed their gratitude to the instructors for their meticulous guidance and assistance, the full support of the Beihang Community, the cooperation and inclusiveness of team members, and the support from SSDPP as well. We still have a long way to go. I hope we work together and continue to thoroughly implement our motto of "erudition and practice".
