Internship Summary Meeting of Social Work Majors Enrolled in 2020 Successfully Held at Zhuhai Campus of SSDPP



At 9:00 a.m. on January 5, 2022, Ms Xiao Shuzhen presided over the internship summary meeting of social work majors enrolled in 2020 at Zhuhai Campus of SSDPP. The conference was held online and offline simultaneously. Excellent interns shared their experience and Ms Xiao Shuzhen summarized the internship work at the event.

At the beginning, Ms Xiao introduced the meeting process. First, excellent interns Qi Shuxian and Cai Kaihan talked about their internship work. Qi Shuxian worked as an intern in Zhuhai Children Protection Association. She mainly introduced her growth experience from listening to the command at the initial stage to working independently finally during the internship, which is a kind of professional growth and self-improvement. The projects she involved were well combined with her graduation thesis. Reflection is, she believes, very important. It is conducive to our growth and self-positioning cognition. She hopes to find a better self in the future.

Then, Cai Kaihan shared with us his internship experience in SynTao Co., Ltd. and briefly introduced the professional contents related to the internship. During the internship, he was mainly arranged the work of report writing, rating consultation, strategic planning, project design, research output and training. The adaptability of social work specialty in CSR or ESG consulting companies is limited, the "social work characteristics" are not obvious, and the professional content needs to be reflected. He was deeply impressed with the consulting work during his internship and suggested that students interested in consulting share information about the work in advance and try such kind of job.

Ms Xiao summarized the reports of the two excellent interns: one served at the frontline of youth work, and the other worked in a corporate related to social hot spots. They both achieved personal growth and combined their internship well with their thesis and employment.

After that, Ms Xiao invited Ms Wang Fangping, who was responsible for the internship work last semester, to make an online summary. According to Ms Wang, the internship was designed to attach importance to students' autonomy, and internship supervision was organized in the summer vacation to meet students' employment needs. In accordance to the feedback of the internship satisfaction questionnaire, 99% of the students were satisfied with the previous internship arrangement. Thank Mr. Xu Yuebin of the Social Work Committee for his support, Ms Wang Ye'an for her cooperation, Ms Liang Yue for her logistical support, and all the internship assistants for their hard work. Thank Ms Xiao for the opportunity for us to communicate with each other.

Finally, Ms Xiao summarized the meeting in combination with the students' internship reports. Some students' internship work is combined with their major, and the specialization is related to localization; some students' graduation thesis is closely related to their internship work and the graduation thesis materials were collected in their grassroots work. For some other students, their internship work is perfectly combined with their jobs. All the students have their own gains in the internship. Their internship reports mainly include their reflection on the professionalism and versatility of social work, the reserve of professional knowledge and ability of social work, project design and implementation, and policy suggestions from a professional perspective as well. Students adhere to the values, concepts and methods of social work, and the values of social work are required for all jobs.
