Title: Debate Competition: Among the Top Eight!



       Preliminary success: SSDPP vs School of Philosophy

At 4:30 p.m. on November 21, the preliminary competition of the 16th "golden Sound Cup" graduate debate competition of Beijing Normal University was held on Tencent Conference line. In the preliminary competition, the debate team of SSDPP played against the team of the School of Philosophy.

Focusing on "whether the advantages of watching a movie in three minutes outweigh the disadvantages or the disadvantages outweigh the advantages", the two sides had a heated discussion. The debate team of the School of Philosophy described the harm of "fragmented" film viewing, while our brilliant view of "the vitality of a film can be demonstrated in the secondary creation" won the praise of the judges. Finally, our team won the preliminary contest by 5 to 4 and advanced to the top eight!

Losing the second round: SSDPP vs School of Art and Media

At 10:30 a.m. on November 27, SSDPP team debated against the team of the School of Art and Media in the second round. The debate topic is "should contemporary youth struggle or reconcile in the face of imperfect themselves", which is of great significance of the times. The two sided had a heated discussion. We believe that only struggle can help realize the life value of young people and the development of society. The other side insists that young people should learn to reconcile and accept their shortcomings in the face of various pressures in reality. In the end, we lost the debate and was only among the top eight.

Looking back on the "Golden Sound Cup" debate, the debate team of SSDPP not only had the joy of winning the traditional strong team under great pressure, but also regretted for the loss in the second round after going all out. During one month's preparation for the competition, we gained a lot of care and help from SSDPP's leaders and teachers, strengthened our determination to strive for glory for SSDPP. Although we are only among the top eight, the students strengthened their cohesion, improved their debating skills and achieved certain honors in this process. I hope that our debate team will continue to learn from its experience and make further achievements in the coming year!
