Prof. Wang Xiying on an academic visit to Canada

Prof. Wang Xiying won 2012 Special Award for Canadian Studies (SACS) issued by the Canadian government. She will embark on a 5 weeks academic visit in Canada starting May 16, 2011.

Established in 1989, this award provides Chinese scholars with the opportunity to spend five weeks visiting Canadian educational institutions and meeting with Canadian scholars to do research and gather material related to Canadian issues. Upon their return to China, participants are required to teach or integrate Canadian content in their courses, or to publish scholarly articles or books on Canadian issues. The objective of the award is to develop a greater knowledge and understanding of Canada among scholars abroad. Award recipients are expected to raise the visibility of Canada through teaching or publications.

This important program, which has proven quite successful since its inception, allows new Chinese scholars to be introduced to Canada and their Canadian peers and to take part in punctual research and exchange activities in collaboration with them.
